WISERD Winners

Wales’ largest social science conference took place at the new Bay Campus at Swansea University last week.

The seventh annual WISERD conference brought together practitioners, policy makers and social scientists with over 70 papers being presented this year. The Wales DTC sponsored two competitions.

Together with The Learned Society for Wales, we sponsored the student poster competition: currently-registered PhD students attending the conference submitted a huge selection of posters which were displayed throughout the event. Thankfully the Great Hall had plenty of display space!

The winner was Nell Warner who presenter her poster on the impact of multiple risks on Home-Start support.

We also sponsored The Three Minute Engagement and Impact Challenge . This celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students and is designed for doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience and using only one projected slide.
