The ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) is pleased to offer a range of opportunities to complete an internship with the Welsh Government.  These internships will provide an opportunity to gain an insight into the work of the Welsh Government, to apply research and statistical skills and to further develop generic skills such as presenting and writing for a non-technical audience.

The internships are aimed at students with the appropriate research skills, but specialist knowledge of the topic area is not required. The internships offer excellent developmental opportunities. This includes the opportunity to be involved in the development and evaluation of key Welsh Government priorities, to work alongside government analysts and policy officials, and in some cases, with arms-length bodies.

These internships are expected to begin in January 2018, although this is negotiable.

2. Welsh Government / Natural Resources Wales: Analysis of Well-Being Data in Relation to / with Natural Resources (4 months)
3. Welsh Government: Employment Opportunities for People Aged 50 and Over in Wales (3 months)
4. Welsh Government / National Museum Wales: Exploring the Relationship Between Culture and Well-being (3 months)
5. Welsh Government: National Education Workforce Survey – What are the Key Issues Affecting the Education Workforce in Wales? (3 months)
6. Welsh Government: Perceptions and Self-reporting of Welsh Language Competence (3 months)
7. Welsh Government: Votes for Prisoners (3 months)
8. Welsh Government: Identifying key predictors for Future Generations indicators using the National Survey for Wales (4 months)

These internships are open to any ESRC Wales DTP funded student except those within 3 months of the start or end of their studentship. Those interested should first discuss this opportunity and its timing with their supervisor, whose approval will be necessary.

Mae’r interniaethau hon yn agored i unrhyw fyfyriwr sy’n cael eu hariannu gan Bartneriaeth Hyfforddiant Doethurol Cymru’r Cyngor Ymchwil Economaidd ac eithrio’r rheini sydd o fewn 3 mis i ddechrau neu i orffen eu hysgoloriaeth ymchwil. Dylai’r sawl sydd â diddordeb drafod y cyfle a’r amseriad gyda’i goruchwyliwr yn y lle cyntaf. Bydd angen cymeradwyaeth y goruchwyliwr arnoch.
